Maximum Relief with Maxalt MLT

Treatment is the same at any dose:

• Dissolve tablet(s) on the tongue at the first signs a migraine is developing.
• If symptoms are not sufficiently alleviated, or the headache returns, an additional dose may be taken after 2 hours.
• Always wait at least 2 hours between doses.
• Do not exceed 30 mg of Maxalt MLT in a 24-hour period.

Effects start to be felt after about 15 minutes. Symptoms should be eliminated completely or alleviated to such an extent that they do not interfere with daily activities.

Before Using this Product

To understand the risks associated with Maxalt MLT, or any triptan medication, it helps to understand how the medication works. It is a vasoconstrictor, meaning it constricts (narrows) blood vessels, as well as inhibits production of some chemicals in the brain that cause pain. This means patients who have conditions that cause circulation issues, blood pressure concerns, or are taking other medications that produce similar effects, are at considerably greater risk of experiencing complications. Patients are strongly advised not to buy Maxalt MLT---or any triptan medication---without first discussing risks with a doctor if there is any history of:

• Any heart or blood vessel problems
• Severe or untreated hypertension
• Inadequate blood supply to the intestine (ischemic bowel disease)
• Any high risk factors for heart disease or stroke

Other medications of significant concern include:

• SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs and some other antidepressants
• Medications containing ergotamine (also a migraine treatment and vasoconstrictor)
• Other medications containing triptans
• Recreational drugs, including alcohol, that raise blood pressure
• St John’s Wort

The effects of triptan medications on unborn or nursing babies is unclear; this medication should not be used while pregnant or breastfeeding without explicit doctor approval.
